used to be some great acoustic on this site...

a really fun song, recorded on her sofa I think, someone walks in midway and waves while she smiles. how great is that.

And not to discount her proper art.

I couldn't pick just one -- greedy thing that I am.

Wouldn't it be sweet if he could die from a broken heart?

I just can't stop

I Have A Thing For Music That Doesn't Take Itself Too Seriously...

... well, I have a thing for music in general, so maybe the problem starts there.

this chick -- whhicked. don't judge it. sit through it at least once, end to end. your head will nod or foot will tap, or, like me, you'll dance in place cause this song gets me there. it gets at you.

No Video Anywhere... I've looked.

ok. an odd post, cause I know the standard is to post a video, but there isn't a single one on this song anywhere.

There are videos of their other tracks, but not this one, and i'm about this track. so its a bit of scavenger hunt, but you get the door prize of an mp3 at the end of the trail of bread crumbs.

Hear It.

go here a listen to My Toys Like Me's Superpower

Get It.
The mp3 of the song is on the hardcandy site for free download.

Turn It.
way, way, way up.

modern Greek Sirens?

I shouldnt be surprised that it took a group of blurry women to deliver that mythological ghostly sound.

A haunting rendition to an ever so haunting song.

Diggin' In The Crates...

(An ideal opportunity to put my useless information to work)
I was going to lead with Rap-O-Clap-O, by Joe Bataan (the first hip hop song on wax), but wanted something a little more memorable.

And there is the obvious classic; originally recorded by Strafe, but the record company didn't like it, so they gave it to Harlequin Four, who made this little travesty. The original survived and was a massive hit, to our collective benefits.

And because I can't make up my mind for anything, I'm including the original seed, the beat that started it all thanks to GC Coleman and the Winstons; It starts at ~1:43 and goes on for six whole seconds. there is the most amazing documentary on youtube about the history of the amen break.

is it here yet?!?

monday the train was late... tuesday,... she messed up your head :)

A Little Balance...

so i'm tapping into my roots for a short rough neck detour.

ok, so I didn't really come up that way, and Tim Dogg lives in LA now. Also, I hate the bronx, it should be bombed and everyone there would agree with me.

Special Ed, Kwame and everything prince paul touched was more my thing, and of course this little gem:

and she goes... nobody knows

stop an animation + morning bed sun = beautiful daydream. :)

oh she's fun...

watch and listen, you'll need to forgive some audio problems, her voice is too big for the room. Now put her in a studio and see what happens.

beyonce's writers intentionally go for loopy, simplistic songs. Who'd a thunk the song would sound better acoustic.

its been a while, but I think this gets me back on my game...

...and makes up for the extended absence (or so I hope :-D .)
